Cerro Alto mountain , located on hwy41 west of Atascadero Ca. , is now warming up and spring is again evident in the color and beauty , and along with this spring event , Rattle snakes appear --- be careful ! Today I photographed this large Rattler that was barely visible as it was in the grass 10 inches from the trail ! As you can see it is black and was in the shade , the trail was in the sun -- tough combination . This snake is 4 to 5 feet long with several rattles and remember it can strike over half of its length ! So be careful .
Enjoy the spring hiking and watch the color multiply .
