Cerro Alto gets rain

Photos taken last week , the day after the thunder and rain storm ., Below we see Cerro Alto from highway 41 . 

The weather was cold and damp , windy . The trails were wet , the air fresh , smells beautiful . The fog engolphed us near the top. My dog Sierra loved the water on the trails .

The mountain got several inches of rain but needs much much more .

Cat Track on trail

On my Cerro Alto daily hikes I am seeing Cougar and deer tracks again on the bridge trail close to the campground . These trails ar very busy with hiking traffic and as a  norm I don't see fresh tracks here during the day , maybe the springs up high are drying up and the wild life are getting bold in seeking water near the campground .The track below is of a yearling mountain lion , very fresh in the dust , an hour or less in age . Traffic was heavy here , winds strong . The ridges are sharp on this track .

As I said I have been seeing tracks in this area several times during the  day light hours . . Keep your eyes open , you might get lucky and see a cat . I have been so lucky several times in years past . I saw a cat once this year on Cerro alto .

Peggy

Yesterday I met Peggy hiking with her dog on 

Cerro Alto , she was carrying 40 plus pounds , training for an adventure in the near future.

She is going to back pack the High Sierra Trail with her daughter .

In the photo is Peggy ,her dog and of course my Sierra with the pack .

I think the tall young man on the left is Bruce , correct me if I am wrong .

They were starting their hike at 7 pm . They appeared to be well equipped for a night hike .

I wish I had gone with them !
