San Luis Obispo Marathon 2013

My son Luis Escobar  was a guest speaker at this event ---- his job was to use his vast world class running experience to motivate young or new marathon runners .

I enjoyed this event but I think my dog Sierra had more fun --- enjoy !

Once again Sierra and I had a full day as we spent the morning in SLO and the afternoon we hiked the Rinconada trail in the Pozo area  ,located east of Santa Margarita in San Luis Obispo Co. Ca.

The weekend of March 15 th and Spring is appearing oll over on the Rinconada trail , many horse riders , hikers , wild flowers and wild life . The weather was great . This area located in  the Los Padres National Forest east of Santa Margarita in SLO Co. Ca. is always exciting !

3-7-13  spring is arriving at Cerro Alto , a favorite mountain of mine located on hwy 41 near Atascadero Ca.

The aromas are strong as the flowers bloom , clouds shimmer , birds sing and bees hum .

Another adventure on the Scout Trail --- fog  and Sierra is pondering the canyon  in the fog .
This mountain is always an adventure as the weather adds variety to the views !

Ultra Running and Hiking

This weekend Betty and I took our dogs to help out with a new ultra race my son Luis organized in the Los Almos area  ( US 101 south of Santa Maria Ca. ) The weather was great and the scenery stunning . I got my hiking in by helping mark the trails  . I also photographed the race ( 300 photos ) both on foot and while four wheeling in my Jeep .Betty and I had a great time for two days meeting old friends  while camping and working . One night we enjoyed a dinner at the old hotel in Los Alomos , good wine and good food .here I am posting a few photos so you can get an idea of the beauty we enjoyed .

The guy with the hat giving directives to the runners is Luis my son and the guy photographed with the lady runner is myself  ( this is the only photo made of myself as I was taking  the photos . the lady photographed with me is Deanna , first place winner with a time of 2:48 in the 50 K run .
