Rinconada Trail hike this week was a classic Fall season hike , the weather cool , colors beautiful and the clouds were gathering with a promise of rain . My dog sierra loved the cool breeze . Below is a two minute video of my hike , I hope you enjoy .

Saturday ,June 6th , 2015 , the Pozo are was very hot but beautiful as the Yuccas were in full bloom .

The bears will feast this year as the blooms are large and sweet , I sampled one near the trail !

So hurry to see as they won't last long !

Senior Citizen Hikers on Cerro Alto

Cerro Alto  Senior Hikers

Cerro Alto My daily hike , a 1600 ft elevation gain , moderate to strenuous hike located in the Los Padres National forest on highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero California . Today i hiked to the summit with a friend Jim , both of us are the same age  , a proud 76 years old and still strong !

We witnessed a group of hikers that captivated our hearts , four men that were senior citizens  belonging to a club of hikers named Trail Runners , a man named Jim seemed to lead . There were four men, the oldest of them was Gus featured in the rear age 78  , all the rest of them were considerably younger than myself  or Jim . we met them as they were descending the most technical 

part of the trail , they were slow and very careful . Gus fell down and had a very difficult time getting
back up as the trail was very steep and the soil dry ! . .
The following following photos and video clips are meant to complement them for their efforts in enjoying nature and engaging in a healthy sport --- hiking .
I sure hope that we meet often on the trail .

Weather on Cerro Alto

I hiked Cerro Alto Yesterday afternoon 5-26-15

4 pm the weather at the summit was cold with 20 to 30 mile sustained winds

gusts were at times stronger . Fog and clouds added to the cold .

For most of the journey , up to the Morro rock over look saddle , the weather was great for hiking .

Carry a wind breaker in your day pack . 

Pine Ridge Trail

Pine Ridge Trail 4-2015

Once again , we hiked the Pine ridge Trail . Mark , Wayne , Bill and Myself hiked with a triple purpose adventure . 

1. Visiting Jack English was definitely a goal as we were informed that he would be flying in by helicopter for a visit to his cabin .
2. Mark wanted to visit the Caves and see some native American cave drawings .
3. We hoped to enjoy some wild flowers  

I got lucky and accomplished all three goals . The wild flowers were beautiful and at their blooming peak . Jack did in fact fly in and we visited with him and his son . Mark enjoyed the Caves and the drawings . 

And once again , Bill surprised us with a visit in Pine Valley . He hiked in with a dinner to die for .

we enjoyed shrimp , cheeses , baked salmon , chicken casserole , bread , fine wine , and pie for dessert . This makes two years consecutively that Bill has done this for us . This is  a hard act to repay as he had to carry all this in a back pack for six miles with an elevation gain of 1000 ft .

This is a selfy of Bill , the friend responsible for the great dinner in the wilderness .

Without Bill this hiking adventure would not have come together as 

he kept me up to date on Jack and arranged th caves visit .

And I can't say enough about the dinner and three botttles of fine red wine !
